Case registered against 64 people for violating rules during Ganesh immersion

MADIKERI: The police have registered a suo motu case against 64 people for violating noise pollution norms during the Ganesha idol immersion procession in Virajpet on Sunday evening.

Srimangala Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra has registered a case based on a complaint filed against a pandal committee. Later, this was applied against 64 people related to loudspeakers in 16 pandals and a case has been registered under Sections 125, 285, 292, 36, 109 of the KP Act and Sec 188 of the IMV Act.

According to the complaint filed by Srimangala Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra, a pandal committee had been booked for violating noise pollution rules. Later, the case was extended to 16 pandal committees and 64 people, including DJ operators, owner Gaurikere Ganeshotsava Samiti Madan Krishna, technicians Punith and Mokshit, and vehicle drivers.

The complaint alleged that the pandal committees had used loudspeakers beyond the permissible limits and had not followed the instructions given by the authorities. The police have registered cases against the following mandap committees, including Shivakeri’s, Vinayaka Yuva Samiti, Panjrapete’s Vinayaka Seva Samiti, Arasunagara’s Vighneshwara Seva Samiti, Minupete’s Vishwa Vinayaka Utsava Samiti, Dakhani Mohalla’s Vijay Vinayaka Utsava Samiti, Pattana Panchayiti Vighneshwara Utsava Samiti, K Boyikery’s Kenkereamma Vighneshwara Samiti, Panjrapete’s Mahaganapati Seva Samiti, Sunkadakatte’s Varasiddhi Vinayaka Utsava Samiti, Nehru Nagar’s Netaji Utsava Samiti, Malethirike Bettada Kanmani Vinayaka Utsava Samiti, Telugara Beedi Vinayaka Bhakta Mandali, Ayyappa Bettada Varada Vinayaka Seva Samiti, Sunna Beedi Doddammana and Chikkamma Thayi Vinayaka Seva Samiti

The police have also stated that they will register cases under the Environment Protection Act after receiving a report from the Pollution Control Board.
