Case filed against woman catering contractor at Sadashivnagar for not paying workers hired for wedding

BENGALURU: A case has been booked against a woman catering contractor for allegedly cheating 60 workers who were hired for a wedding which was held recently.

Suguna, the woman catering contractor had hired the workers for cutting vegetables, do dishwashing and cleaning the venue at the wedding took place on Saturday and Sunday at the Palace Ground. She hired them for three days from February 21 to 23. Suguna had promised to pay the workers Rs 1,250 per day, but when payments were to be made, she told them that she would pay Rs 1,000 and has allegedly not paid them so far.

The workers, who were hired for the wedding, are now on the streets, claiming they were cheated by the contractor, Suguna. A group of 60 workers from Tamil Nadu’s Tirupattur had come to Bengaluru for the wedding work.

The workers claim that Suguna has cheated them and they’re demanding justice. However, they haven’t received any help from Suguna or the police. They have lodged a complaint at the Sadashivanagar police station.

The workers are now camping on the road, demanding justice and their dues. They’re refusing to budge until they receive their payment as agreed. The protest has been going on since Monday.
