BENGALURU: For the first time, candidates constesting the Assembly election in the state will be able to submit their nomination papers online. For this, the Election Commission has launched the Suvidha app and also issued certain guidelines on how to go about the process.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, filing of nominations will start on April 13 and close on April 20 and candidates can file their nominations on the Suvidha app from the first day itself. The online filing of nomination was earlier introduced during the elections in Punjab and Haryana
Special Commissioner (Election) Ujwal Kumar Ghosh, said, “Candidates can book slots with the returning officers through the app. They will have to take printouts of all the documents and sign on the affidavit. The Encore software is being used for the first time in Karnataka and has been used in other states earlier.
“Any candidate can register through OTP validation. The online forms will the same as the physical forms and candidates will have to fill all the details to book a slot with the respective RO’s offices. All the forms, certificates and affidavit will still have to be filed in physical form”, he added.
The Election Commission has also issued step-by-step guidelines for filing of online nominations and deposits can also be made through the app.
