CAG report reveals 106-year-old got tailoring training under Kaushalya Karnataka scheme

BENGALURU: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has raised serious questions about the transparency in the implementation of the Kaushalya Karnataka scheme during 2018-2022 and the misuse of funds. The report has also unearthed shocking irregularities.

As per the findings, a 106-year-old woman received tailoring training, and a total of 3,487 candidates who were overage also received training, with Rs 3.90 crore spent on it. The CAG report, tabled in the Assembly on Thursday, highlighted several such discrepancies.

  In 2019-20, the Renukha Education Society in Dharwad provided training to Sahirabanu (SAF No. 0960268) as a tailoring machine operator. Shockingly, the beneficiary was a 106-year-old woman born on January 1, 1913.

The same society provided training to two infants, Rukaiah and Kanisha, born in 2019, for the post of Assistant Beauty Therapist. The report noted that despite the age limit being 18-35 years for general candidates, funds were misused in the names of minors and seniors.
