BENGALURU: Some vested interests have demolished a bus shelter on the main road in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) late at night. Around two days ago, 4-5 private individuals arrived at midnight and levelled the bus stop using a excavator.

The demolition has sparked anger among locals, who are now forced to wait for buses in the pouring rain or under the scorching Sun. The bus stop, which was located on the road leading to RR Nagar Gate, provided shelter to passengers from rain and heat.

The sudden removal of the bus stop has caused inconvenience to commuters, who are now struggling to find a place to wait for buses. Some bus drivers have even been refusing to stop at the spot, citing the absence of a bus stop.

Locals are questioning who was responsible for the demolition and why it was done, as the bus stop was a convenient facility for the public. BBMP officials seem to be unaware of the demolition, leading to speculation that the construction activity nearby might be linked to the incident.

Residents gave a complaint to the RR Nagar police station regarding the demolition of the bus stop and are seeking action against those responsible. A woman said, “Of course, it is difficult without bus stand for everyone, especially during rain”.

Another local resident, Govindraju said, “Recently some people came at midnight and demolished the bus stand. Whether they were from BBMP or a contractor, was it for genuine reason, we do not know about that. It was convenient for all of us during rain and summer. If someone else has removed it, then the authorities need to get to the reason behind it and take action”.
