CHAMARAJNAGAR: Movement of buses has been banned on Himavad Gopalaswamy Hill road from October 16, until further orders, as a precautionary measure.

The bad state of the road leading to the top of the Himvad Gopalaswamy hillDue to continuous rainfall over the last few days in that area, the road which leads to the top of the hill is completely washed away. Huge potholes and scattered stones on the road pose a danger to travellers. There are threats of landslides too, which could cause major traffic problems.Hence, vehicle movement has been prohibited on a temporary basis.

Himavad Gopalaswamy Hill, also known as the Kashmir of Karnataka, is in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district. It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. It lies in the core area of the Bandipur National Park and is frequented by wild life, including elephants. Dense fog covers the hills all year round. During the monsoon or winter season, many tourists flock to such locations.
