BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and other transport utilities in the state are likely hike bus ticket prices after Sankranti this month, marking the first increase in nearly four to five years. The potential fare hike is attributed to the rising costs of petrol, diesel and spare parts.
Although the transport corporations had previously sought a 25 per cent increase in ticket prices, the actual hike might be around half of that. A decision on the ticket price hike is expected to be made by the government after Sankranti and may be discussed in a meeting between the Chief Minister and transport workers’ unions.
