Bus catches fire after colliding with two-wheeler; Rider dead, passengers safe

The motorcycle was trapped under the bus, leading to it catching fire.

CHITRADURGA: A private bus was completely gutted in a fire which broke out after it collided with a motorcycle on National Highway-48 near Madakaripura in the taluk in the wee hours on Saturday. The motorcycle rider was killed in the accident.

The bus, with 50 passengers, was on its way to Bengaluru from Hosapete. As soon as it collided with the motorcycle, the passengers got off the bus. A little while later, a massive fire engulfed the bus as the motorcycle was trapped under it.

Luckily, all the bus passengers were safe whereas the motorcycle rider, identified as Ramesh (35) of Bachaboranahatti village in Chitradurga taluk, died on the spot. The Chitradurga Rural police have registered a case.
