VIJAYAPURA: Bulls participating in races on account of Kaara Hunnime in Vijayapura were allegedly administered electric shocks by the owners to make them run faster.

A bull race was organised on the zilla panchayat premises near Ibrahimpur in Vijayapura where over 50 bulls participated. Since permission had been been given for the bull race, the police had advised the organisers not to organise any races. But, on the pretext of the festival, bull races were organised.

Some of the bull owners, who were equipped with battery kits, administered electric shocks to the animals to make them run faster. Animal rights activists have condemned such a practice and called for action against the culprits.
