Brigade Road shopkeepers’ association says they will follow Covid rules if directed

BENGALURU: The coronavirus is back at a time when the city, especially the central business district including Church Street, MG Road and Brigade Road are preparing for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Like every year, this year too MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street are decorated with lights and attracting visitors. The lighting is on from 6 pm to 11 pm, and as the day Christmas and New Year approaches, more decorations are expected. The lighting is the main attraction on Brigade Road and thousands of people come with their families and friends to soak in the festive spirit.

Sohil Yusef, secretary, Brigade Shops and Establishment Association said, “Amid the fear of Covid-19, thousands of people come together to celebrate New Year at MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street. We are celebrating the new year in a grand manner as every year and people come from far-off away to see the lighting on the street. But this time, Covid is back and the government has already asked people to wear masks in public places and in crowded areas. Our association will follow the Covid rules if directed. The association is ready to cooperate with the government and the police department in terms of following guidelines. Those celebrating the New Year on these major roads should follow the corona rules”.
