BENGALURU: A day ahead of the counting of votes for the Assembly election, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday reiterated that the BJP will win with a comfortable majority.
“I have been saying that we will get a clear majority. I called up the party central leaders and informed them of the ground situation. Even the high command is positive that the party will form the next government. We have got reports from each booth in all the Assembly constituencies and we are hopeful of touching the magic number”, the CM told reporters.
The CM also said that the Congress will not get majority. “They are trying to initiate talks with leaders from other parties. It shows they are not confident about their own legislators”, he remarked. Basavaraj Bommai also said there is no question of an alliance as the will secure majority on its own. “Both myself and senior leader B S Yediyurappa have been giving the same numbers”, he added. He later left for an undisclosed location from his private residence in R T Nagar.
The CM is expected to be in his Shiggaon constituency on Saturday when the couting of votes will take place. Earlier on Friday, several party leaders including Byrathi Basavaraj, Varthur Prakash, M T B Nagaraj and V Somanna met the CM at his residence.
