MYSURU: The famous Mysuru Dasara got off to a start with author and Booker Prize winner Bhanu Mushtaq offering prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hills along with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This marks the beginning of the 10-day celebrations.


The Chamundi Hills were decorated with traditional rangoli and banana stalks to welcome the chief guest. Tight security arrangements were in place, with police checking every individual visiting the hill. Various folk art teams, including dollu kunita, Nandi dhwaja kunita, and vadya melas, have gathered at the Chamundi Hills to welcome the dignitaries.


Author Bhanu Mushtaq arrived at the Chamundi Hills, accompanied by her family, and was greeted by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other dignitaries. She offered prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple and participated in the traditional rituals. She was presented with a memento, a wooden elephant by the district administration. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and other dignitaries in attendance.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements, including checking points and a strong police presence, to ensure a smooth and safe experience for the devotees. Various folk art teams perform during the festival, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. The performances will include traditional dances, music, and other art forms, adding to the festive atmosphere.
