Bommai Cabinet okays mining in one part of Hutti Gold Mines land under Rs 307 cr project

BENGALURU: The Basavaraj Bommai Cabinet has given administrative approval for mining in the northern part of the land leased to Hutti Gold Mines Ltd under a Rs 307 crore project.

Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, Law Minister J Madhuswamy said Namma Clinics will be set up in the jurisdiction of all local bodies and 438 doctors and nurses each will be appointed at a cost of Rs 35-36 lakh. The doctors will be appointed on temporary basis. In Bengaluru, Namma Clinics will be established in all wards and Rs 103 crore has been set aside for this, he said.

The cabinet has also approved the construction of court buildings in Chikkodi, Mudigere, Srinivasapur, Parvathi Layout in Ballari and Kundawada in Davanagere district. Civic workers will be paid Rs 2,000 as hardship allowance, Madhuswamy said.

* Rs 96.6 crore for Renuka Sagar dam drinking water project
* Changes to norms under Amrut Nagarotthana scheme
*Rs 65.5 crore additional funds for night landing facility at Shivamogga airport.

The cabinet also decided to pay the stamp duty towards handing over the Pandavapura sugar factory to S S Nirani Sugars, which will have to be repaid in 10 years without any interest.

Among other decisions, the cabinet approved cleaning up of black spots in Sirsi, construction of a commercial complex near the overbridge in Belagavi and 25 per cent rebate for Rashtrotthana Parishat in statutory payments to be made to the Kalaburagi municipal corporation.

Madhuswamy also said that the government has not yet decided when to convene the legislature. While there were plans to convene the House in July itself, there are now discussions on convening the legislature next month, he added.
