BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) management has been receiving numerous complaints from passengers about tiffs between staff for some trivial reason. Several passengers frequently get into arguements with BMTC bus drivers and conductors of late over issues like change or bus stops.

Other than this, the BMTC headquarters has also received complaints of staff misbehaving with passengers, using foul language and assaulting them. Some of the passengers post their complaints and videos on social media platforms, bringing them to the notice of BMTC. Sometimes, passengers make accusations against the BMTC staff without any evidence. Therefore, the BMTC’s security team has decided to investigate the complaints and verify their authenticity before taking action.

Prabhakar, BMTC chief traffic manager, said, the central office is receiving around 2,000 complaints every month. “The security team will investigate and verify the complaints. If the team finds that the passengers have posted false complaints without any evidence, then action will be taken against them, and complaints will be filed with the police. If the allegations are true, the respective depot manager will take action against the drivers and conductors. The BMTC administration is taking steps to reduce the number of complaints from passengers”, he said.

“Complaints will be investigated by an investigator from the security team of BMTC and both sides — the complainant and BMTC staff — will be given an opportunity to present their case. The security team will also provide training to drivers and conductors on how to behave with passengers and maintain discipline. The BMTC administration is taking various measures to reduce the number of complaints from passengers”, Prabhakar added.
