BMTC staff seek release of salaries pending for 38 months

BENGALURU: Former vice-president of the BMTC employees’ union, Dr M R Venkatesh, has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging the government to address the issues faced by transport employees.

In the letter, Venkatesh requested the government to release the pending salary arrears of 38 months and release funds for the Shakti scheme, which is owed to the corporation running into hundreds of crores to save the corporation.

The transport unions have warned of a strike and a ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ protest on January 29 if their demands aren’t met. Venkatesh has expressed solidarity with the protest.
