BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses have become notorious for claiming lives in accidents every day, especially two-wheeler rider, earning it the ‘killer BMTC’ tag.

Howver, the transport utility has claimed that its drivers are not at fault in many of the accidents and blames other road users for reckless driving. The corporation also said that training should be given to two-wheeler riders.

However, Public TV conducted a reality check in many major places, including Corporation Circle, Mysore Bank Circle, Deepanjali Nagar, Majestic entrance, Goruguntepalya, Town Hall, Lulu Mall Road and Iskcon Temple Road. Despite the BMTC’s claims, its drivers were seen driving recklessly and overspeeding at many of the places.

The harsh reality is that, despite BMTC’s claims and the reality on the road, two-wheeler riders riders in the city continue to lose their lives in accidents, which are becoming more frequent. The transport utility may need to sensitize its drivers and conduct training modules in safe driving while keeping other road users in mind.
