BMTC plans mini e-buses on Metro feeder routes, services to start in 6 months

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has planned to deploy about 100 electric mini buses as Metro feeder service, to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity for Metro passengers.

The BMTC plans to introduce mini e-bus service on Metro feeder routes.

The central government has granted approximately Rs 13 crore towards introducing mini electric buses to facilitate travel from Metro stations to other locations. These mini e-buses have a capacity of 25–30 passengers and will be deployed on narrow roads and areas surrounding Metro stations.

Electric mini buses are expected to help avoid traffic bottlenecks. It will also be conductor-less and passengers can buy tickets with a smart card or through online payment. Electric mini buses will start service in the next six to seven months.
