Reacting to BJP leader R Ashok’s statement that the GBA will be abolished if the party comes to power, Shivakumar said, “This is the first meeting, and we have a lot of work to do. We will not be swayed by their statements. There is no agenda in the first meeting. As they are senior leaders in BJP, they opposing everything that benefits Bengaluru”.
He further challenged the BJP, saying, “This is the deception that the BJP has done to the people of Bengaluru. Even though the people gave them an opportunity, they did not live up to expectations. It is very regrettable in this matter. They have become more interested in politics; it is up to them to dismiss these issues. The Congress government has given five guarantees and brought changes, but till today, the BJP has not been able to achieve anything. We do not bother about what they say. Let them say that they will not contest the elections; let them decide that they will not become members.”
The Deputy CM challenged them to do something like the boycott in Jammu and Kashmir.
