BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus drivers at Deepanjali Nagar depot staged a protest on Thursday, refusing to operate electric buses. The drivers were demanding attendance bonus and salary allowances that have not been paid for the past two years.
Over 100 electric bus drivers from Depot No 16 participated in the protest, which brought electric bus services to a halt. The drivers are also demanding better security measures and response in case of accidents.
The protest was held in front of the Deepanjali Nagar depot gate, with hundreds of drivers and electric buses affected. The protesters raised slogans, demanding justice and fulfillment of their demands, saying they won’t budge until their demands are met.
