BENGALURU: Bengaluru has been facing a lot of problems because of road potholes and people have seen how smaller vehicles facing problems to move on the roads in the city. But now, even BMTC drivers are encountering the same pothole problem and are getting frustrated.

Potholes on most of the city’s roads have created a situation that is a challenge for riders. Especially for autos, cars, and two‑wheelers, the city’s potholes are a nightmare. These very potholes are also causing hardship to BMTC drivers, and employees’ unions are requesting that the roads be repaired.

Even BMTC buses that travel to every corner of the city are now struggling because of potholes. When buses run on roads riddled with potholes, spare parts get dislodged and fall.

It seems that many depot managers are making drivers pay to replace the spare parts that fall out of the pocket due to the poor road conditions. Many drivers have lodged complaints about this to the transport employee unions, and union leaders have expressed outrage over the matter.

Jagadish, a union leader, said, “Due to the poor maintenance of BMTC buses, depot managers and ADS are troubling us for damaging the buses. The government should maintain good roads as it is basic infrastructure. It should take initiative to fix the potholes in the city. The depot managers are collecting money from drivers and it is condemnable. Making the vehicle driver responsible for any accident is very wrong. This is a very unfair practice and decision by the department”.
