BMTC conductor slaps Class 5 boy after he asks for ticket, transport utility promises action

BENGALURU: A BMTC bus conductor allegedly slapped a Class 5 student of the RG Halli government school for demanding a ticket after paying the fare. The boy, along with two others, was heading back home after class. They were travelling from Varthur Kodi to Kundalahalli Gate.

In a series of posts on X, Whitefield Rising (@WFRising) wrote, “Extremely distressing – @BMTC_BENGALURU. The conductor of the bus slaps a Standard 5 boy of RG Halli Govt School. Three young kids (Std 5: ~11years) of Ramagondanahalli Govt School boarded the bus to go back home after class as they do everyday”.

“All three paid for the ticket. But: – Only 1 child was issued the ticket. Other 2 were not given. – when the child asked for the ticket, the conductor asked him to pay again. – Child refused and the conductor slapped him hard across his face”.

“The stunned child burst into tears but none of the passengers stood up for him. He got home and called his teacher from School”, the user wrote.

“We are terribly saddened that public transport is so unsafe for our kids. When everyone is encouraging the use of ???? and metro. Children are being harassed regularly. For more money. But today it crossed a line. @BMTC_BENGALURU – we hope you will investigate & take action”, the user added.

The BMTC responded to the user saying, “We will call for a enquiry with the said conductor, if found guilty , we will certainly intiate the desciplanary action . We at BMTC always educate our crew to behave good & polite with passengers ,????”
