BENGALURU: A civil engineer died after he was knocked down by a BMTC bus, fell towards the road median and was run over by the bus, at Yelahanka on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Bharat Reddy (24).
The engineer was on his way home on his scooter when a BMTC bus ahead of him was blocking the entire width of the road. After trailing the bus for some distance, Bharat tried to overtake it near D-Mart, when he was knocked down and the bus ran over him, killing him on the spot.
The driver of the bus abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
Bharat’s father is an established civil engineer himself and was sending his son to train under another engineer known to him. The accident occurred when Bharat was returning home from work.
