BENGALURU: The yellow line of the Namma Metro is all set to be inaugurated soon, fulfilling a long-pending demand of commuters. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) now plans to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inaugural event.

The operationalisation of the yellow line has been delayed for years and safety checks have recently concluded. The BMRCL hopes to get the report from the rail safety commissioner in the coming 2-3 days.

While it is planned to inaugurate the yellow line on August 15, the BMRCL authorities are planning to write to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the next few days and expect a reply by next week.

The 18.8 km line will have 16 stations and operate with driverless trains. For the state, Metro will start the yellow line with three train sets and add three more in the following months.
