BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has invited tenders for the design of the Metro phase-3 project. The third phase involves the construction of two corridors. Under this project, two more double-decker flyovers will be built in the city.
The BMRCL authorities are looking to design the flyover project in three phases. New routes will be constructed from JP Nagar 4th phase to Kempapura and from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
The Union government had approved the project in August last year. Following this, BMRCL has invited for tenders for the design of the third phase double-decker.
Designs are being considered for the construction of elevated roads for double decker flyovers, stations and ramps from Sumanahalli Cross station to Kadabagere and from JP Nagar Station to Nagarahabhavi BDA Complex. Along with this, BMRCL is also seeking advisory report on the construction of depots near Peenya and Sumanahalli, skywalks and multimodal transportation systems.
The land acquisition process is under way for the 44.65 km-long third phase. A total of 299 properties have been identified. The central government will bear the cost of the Metro corridor in this project, while the state government will bear the cost of the double-decker flyover project.
