UDUPI: Kota Srinivas Poojary, Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka, expressed confidence in winning the upcoming elections echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘400 paar’ call.
As a debutant contestant of the Lok Sabha elections, Poojary thanked the senior party leaders for the opportunity and asserted to win by a margin of 2-3 lakh votes.
The polling for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat will be held on April 26.
“I started my political career as a Gram Panchayat member, after that I got a chance to become a Taluka Panchayat member, then I became a District Panchayat member and MLC four times, became a minister in the state government three times and got the position of leader in the upper house twice. Now I have been given a chance to contest the Lok Sabha elections by the party. Amit Shah ji, JP Nadda ji Yeddyurappa ji, State President Vijayendra ji has given me a chance, I will win by a margin of two to three lakh votes,” Poojary said while speaking to ANI on Friday.
“Prime Minister has given the slogan of 400 this time and I believe that this time 401 will be completed with me included,” he added.
“The party has given a ticket to a Village Panchayat member for the first time in the Lok Sabha elections. 30 years ago, who was a Gram Panchayat member, today I am going to contest the Lok Sabha elections and after winning, I will definitely go to the Parliament by becoming a Member of Parliament,” he said.
Poojary further exuded confidence in BJP winning all seats in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha elections.
“DK Shivakumar Siddaramaiah, Rahul Gandhi, all of them expect to win but it will not happen, BJP will win all 28 seats out of 28 in Karnataka,” Poojari told ANI.
In the 2019 general elections, BJP candidate Shobha Karandlaje won from the Udupi Chikmagalur seat against JD(S) candidate Pramod Madhwaraj.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and JD(S) fought together against the BJP and the combine was decimated. The BJP had won a record 25 seats; Congress and JD-S won just one seat each. The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be held in seven phases starting on April 19. The counting of votes on June 4. (ANI)
