NAGAMANGALA: A BJP fact-finding committee led by CN Ashwath Narayan visited the site of the violence along with BJP leaders and officials. He did not mince words in condemning the Congress government and accused it of its failure to maintain law and order.
Narayan, the Chairman of the fact-finding committee, blamed the Congress government for what he described as ‘appeasement politics.’
Speaking about the incident, he said, “The Congress government has failed to maintain law and order. It is always engaging in appeasement politics. They are not clear, they are divisive, and they aim to divide society along communal lines for vote bank politics. These kinds of incidents keep happening repeatedly.”
Narayan stressed that innocent people affected by the violence should be compensated and that the real culprits should be punished.”We want to ensure that innocent people are not affected. Those who have lost their properties should be compensated, and the real culprits should be booked. Those behind the entire incident should be exposed. What we are looking for is the nexus – the connections behind this violence. We want to bring out all the facts by talking to eyewitnesses and the affected people”, the BJP leader added.
Further the former Deputy Chief Minister said,”We will ensure justice for all people, regardless of religion or caste. We are going to speak to every section of society.”
Regarding the involvement of RSS workers, Narayan said, “Some of the RSS workers were stopped in Mandya last night and were not allowed to come here. I don’t know the details, but I think the police, without any grounds, raided them. It is unfair. They are patriots, working for the good of the country and for communal harmony.”
BJP leader, Narayana Gowda, who is also a member of the fact-finding committee said, “This government has failed. Whether it is an intelligence failure or a deliberate act, we don’t know. But we suspect this is being done with Congress’s involvement. Petrol bombs are being prepared, and everything is being coordinated with Congress workers. The Home Minister and police officials are controlling the situation. This is revenge for Congress’s failure in the last MP elections.”Gowda further claimed that the government is suppressing the truth. “
All of this has been deliberately hidden. We will find out the truth and submit our report. The current government believes that keeping one community happy will keep them in power, but this government was not elected by only one community”, he added.Bhaskar Rao, former Bengaluru Police Commissioner, also weighed in on the situation.
After arriving in Nagamangala, he said, “There are various cases of arson, fire mischief, criminal trespass, and destruction of private property. We will assess the situation and see where the damage came from. Any communal disturbance can be attributed to a lack of preparation and handling. There has been a failure to nip the problem in the bud, which has now led to such a big issue.”
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Saturday that legal action would be taken against those found guilty in the Nagamangala incident. A riot broke out on September 11 in Nagamangala, Mandya district, after allegations of stone-pelting during a Ganpati immersion procession. Parameshwara also said the state government would consider the BJP’s fact-finding committee report if it reveals new information. Mandya District Collector Kumar reported that 54 people were arrested for their role in the riot. (ANI)
