Thousands had gathered at the venue where a non-vegetarian feast was organised on Sunday evening.

KOPPAL: Several people who had gathered for a non-vegetarian feast, organised by an MLA’s supporter, fled the scene when election officials landed at the venue.

Kashinath Bicchali, a supporter of MLA Basavaraj Dhadesugur, and his son B Vinaykumar had secured permission to host a feast for 500 people at Thimmanagoudara Layout in Ward 20 of Karatagi on the pretext of Dhotra datti celebration on Sunday evening. However, thousands of people had turned up at the venue from different parts of the Assembly constituency.

On receiving information, election officials descended on the scene and began filming the event and taking photographs. Noticing this, several BJP workers and those who had gathered started fleeing from the place while some other tried to shift the food items to a different location.

The election officials have now decided to file cases against all those involved in organising the feast for violating the Model Code of Conduct after having taken permission for feeding only 500 people.
