BJP top brass against Yediyurappa holding mega birthday bash, prefers local level celebrations

BENGALURU: The BJP high command has instructed supporters of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa not to organise a large gathering or mega event on his birthday on February 27.

The supporters had planned a grand event to celebrate Yediyurappa’s birthday by organizing a convention, but the top brass has advised against it to avoid confusion and internal party conflicts.

Instead, local celebrations will be held in each constituency. The supporters have planned various activities including blood donation camps and distribution of Bhagyalakshmi bonds. The birthday will be celebrated in all 224 Assembly constituencies. The supporters have planned to organize the celebrations in a meaningful way.

The celebrations will include honouring beneficiaries of successful schemes implemented during Yediyurappa’s tenure. Food donations will also be organised in each constituency. The supporters, and Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha and Raitha Morcha workers have also planned to organise health camps, blood donation camps and other activities.

They will also pray for Yediyurappa’s health and well-being. The supporters are making arrangements for Annadana in each constituency. The local celebrations will include the distribution of Bhagyalakshmi bonds, free cycles and honouring beneficiaries of the loan waiver scheme. Preparations are already under way and the programmes will include recalling the additional Rs 4,000 which was being given to farmers along with the Raitha Samman Nidhi of Rs 6,000 per year given by the Narendra Modi government.
