BENGALURU: BJP leaders staged a protest by blocking roads in Basavanagudi, Govindarajanagar, Vijayanagar and BTM Layout constituencies in Bengaluru city on Wednesday over potholed road. They will stage protests at pothole-ridden areas for an hour every day. Along with protesting, they are also taking it upon themselves to fix the potholes.

Protests were held in all 224 assembly constituencies across the state, led by local leaders. In the Mahalakshmi Layout constituency, MLA Gopalaiah led a traffic blockade protest over potholes.

BJP workers protested near Kanteerava Studio, blocking the road and expressing their frustration over the government’s inaction despite the roads being riddled with potholes.

They are sloganeering, “Fill the potholes, save people’s lives; the Congress_led government has turned the city into a pothole-ridden mess”.

Former MLA Narendra Babu and Deputy Mayor Harish involved themself in fixing potholes. BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, MLA Ravi Subramanya and others, participated in the protest, which involved filling potholes and staging a dharna pm near Kamakya Theatre in Kathriguppe.

Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka launched a scathing attack on the government. “This government is bankrupt and it doesn’t have funds for development. They are not fixing potholes, and people are cursing them. DK Shivakumar says there’s potholes in front of Modi’s house; go check if there’s a pothole in front of Trump’s house and tell us. This government is showing its ineptitude; it’s a bankrupt government”, Ashoka said.

Launching an attack at the Congress government, they said the entire Ring Road is worse, and they’re not fixing potholes. “It has been two-and-a-half years since we have seen any proper road repairs. This government has not fixed potholes, so we have taken it upon ourselves to fix them. The entire Congress government is drowning in potholes; this is a bad government”, Ashok said.

“Potholes are death traps. Ministers should tour the state and fix roads, but none of them are visiting the districts. This government has been hit with 60 per cent corruption, which is why they are not fixing potholes. If they fix potholes, they will just get damaged again; they should fix the entire road instead”, he said.
