The BJP plans to capitalise on Siddaramaiah's remark

BENGALURU: The BJP, which had been tagged as anti-Lingayat after the exit of Laxman Savadi and Jagadish Shettar may have now found an unlikely weapon in Opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s ‘corrupt Lingayat CM’ comment.

The BJP now plans to turn the tables on the Congress by making use of Siddaramaiah’s remarks to show that that it is, in fact, the Congress which is anti-Lingayat while trying to clear itself of the charge that it had sidelined the community.

The party bosses and state leaders now plan to visit Lingayat-dominated segment and spin a narrative against Siddaramaiah that he had labelled the entire community as corrupt. By doing so, the party hopes to control any damage by the exit of Lingayat leaders and also rid itself of allegations that it had sidelined the community.
