BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar lashed out at the BJP on Sunday saying, “They neither brought black money nor credited it to our accounts. So now, we have to start a campaign against them”.
Speaking to reporters before participating in the launching of the free travel scheme ‘Shakti Yojana’ for women in government buses at Vidhana Soudha on Sunday, he said, “We are in the land of Basavanna. The Congress’ power is that we do whatever we promised. Criticism doesn’t last long; works achieved will remain forever. We will amend any mistakes pointed out by the opposition parties through their criticism”.
Poking fun at the BJP’s earlier promises, the Deputy CM said farmers’ income did not double and the youth did not get jobs. “Now, we will launch a campaign against the opposition”, he said.
“Today is a holy day. True worship of God Ishwar is to make people happy. Hence, I have come now after worshipping God. I am seeing God Ishwar in people”, he added.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar later inaugurated the Shakti Project. Around 18,609 buses are available for free travel. It is estimated that 41.80 lakh women will benefit from this facility.
