BENGALURU: The tunnel road plan in Bengaluru is a dream project of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, but the opposition is demanding expansion of the Metro and increasing the BMTC fleet instead.

The BJP has launched a campaign against the proposed tunnel project in Bengaluru, which it claim is an unscientific decision. Bangalore Central BJP MP P C Mohan has written to the BBMP commissioner , stating that the tunnel project is unnecessary and will not solve the city’s traffic woes. He says that there are a lot of loopholes in the detailed project report.

PC Mohan also mentioned major key issues and his concerns over the project. Instead, he suggested prioritizing public transportation like the Namma Metro and BMTC.

The proposed tunnel project is planned to connect Esteem Mall in Hebbal to Silk Board. Experts from the Indian Institute of Science have also expressed opposition to the tunnel project, which is estimated cost of thousands of crores, but the government maintains that the project is essential.
