NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jagadish Shettar, reacting to the alleged scam in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on allotment of sites, said that CBI must carry out an inquiry into it as it is a serious matter involving the names of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife Parvathi Siddaramaiah.
“In this scam, the Chief Minister and his wife’s name is involved. For that purpose, it is a very serious matter and a big scam. There is a violation of the rule…BJP insists that a CBI inquiry should be conducted”, Shetttar said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Kishor Makwana, lashed out at the Karnataka government saying that funds meant for the welfare of Scheduled Caste has been miused and got diverted from the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation.
“The Karnataka government misused the fund for the welfare of Scheduled Caste and diverted it elsewhere…Taking cognisance of this, the Commission has sent a notice to Karnataka government and sought a reply from them within seven days. If Karnataka government fails to reply within seven days, we will take strict action. This is unconstitutional as well as anti-Scheduled Caste”, said Makwana.
Notably, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has sought detailed report from the Karnataka government over the utilisation of funds meant for the welfare of SC/ST. The NCSC stated that the Karnataka government is expected to provide a comprehensive report that can explain the reasons behind the fund diversion and said that the welfare of the SC/ST communities must not be compromised.
Earlier, NCSC took a suo moto cognisance of the issue regarding the isuue pertaining to the alleged diversion of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds in Karnataka.
In an official notice to the chief secretary of Karnataka, the NCSC mentioned that the Karnataka government has decided to reallocate Rs 14,730 crore. The fund was originally earmarked under SCSP and TSP, to implement various welfare schemes known as the five guarantees schemes. (ANI)
