BENGALURU: Opposition leader R Ashoka has predicted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will have to be ready to get down from his position on November 15 and 16. “He should wrap up and ready with luggage to leave at any time”, Ashoka said.
He was speaking at a protest by Anganwadi workers in Bengaluru. He taunted the infighting for the CM’s chair in the Congress party, saying that there will be a musical chair competition between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
Ashoka further alleged that the government had cheated the Anganwadi workers by promising them the 5th guarantee (likely referring to a promise made by the government) and not fulfilling it. He said the government was filling its own pockets while the workers were struggling.
“There is already an agreement in the Congress. I am not an astrologer, but I have friends in Congress, so I know this”, Ashoka said while adding that even if the chair is not given, DK Shivakumar will snatch power.

The Anganwadi workers have been protesting for 5 days at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, demanding that the government fulfill its promises. Ashoka criticized the government for not responding to the workers’ demands.
Ashoka also referred to an incident in Chitradurga where Anganwadi workers confronted Minister K Sudhakar. He said the workers were responsible for the minister’s ‘success’ and demanded that he fulfill his promises.
The minister is quoted as saying that the central government had not provided funds for the Anganwadi workers, but the state government would still provide them with benefits. He asked the workers to be patient and promised to provide them with 100 per cent benefits.
