BENGALURU: A delegation of BJP leaders, including state president B Y Vijayendra, Opposition leader R Ashoka, Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan and Bhaskar Rao, visited the house of a cow owner in Chamrajpet, Bangalore, in connection with the recent cows’ udder slashing incident.

During their visit, they performed gau puja, offering bananas and jaggery to the cow, and celebrated Sankranti at Karna’s house. Ashoka also provided a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the cow owner, Karna.

Vijayendra spoke after the visit, wishing the people of the state a happy Sankranti. He condemned the incident in which a man cut the udders of three cows, stating that it’s unacceptable in a country where cows are revered. Cow is worshipped as God mother, he noted.

“We see the cow as equal to mother and God. The people of the state and the country have witnessed what has happened. Today, we have told cow owner Karna to be brave. It is inexcusable that this has happened in a country where people treat cows as mothers. After Siddaramaiah became the CM, there is now protection for cows. This incident will not do any good to Siddaramaiah and the Congress. A poor person was arrested. The owner, Karna, should be admired for his courage. Now we have performed puja to the cow”, the state president said.

Vijayendra criticized the Congress government, saying that it has failed to protect cows ever since Siddaramaiah became the chief minister.

Meanwhile, R Ashok also spoke, expressing his shock over the incident, saying, “I had reached the spot immediately after the incident. Blood was flowing from udders. The police say that the person who arrested him always carries a blade. No one with humanity behaves like this. I have never seen such an incident in my life. Today is a festival for worshipping cows”.

“Congress leaders created a ruckus for taking a cow for a protest, which brought this tragedy to the owner of the cows. Congress gives with one hand and kills with the other. They will be cursed by the cows. Jihadists have done this and someone has been arrested. Seeing this, there is suspicion on the police and the government”, he said.

Ashok criticized the Congress leaders, saying they made fun of the incident, and accused them of being hypocrites.

Ashoka further accused the Congress government of failing to take action against jihadi elements responsible for the incident.

The BJP and other Hindu outfits, along with social organisations, have decided to hold protest on Wednesday condemning the Chamrajpet incident.
