KALABURAGI: Kalaburagi BJP leader Manikantha Rathod has been arrested by the Nelogi police in connection with an attempted murder case. The arrest was made near Mashal village in Afzalpur taluk late on Thursday night and Manikantha was subsequently produced before a court on Friday which remanded him to judicial custody.

The case stems from an incident where Manikantha and his supporters visited Narayanpur village in Jewargi taluk, where they allegedly created a ruckus. This was reportedly in connection with Manikantha’s demands for the arrest of Rashid Mutya, who was involved in selling spurious medicine. During the incident, a stone hit the head of Rashid Mutya’s car driver.

Based on Rashid Mutya’s driver’s complaint, a case was registered against Manikantha under charges of attempted murder at the Nelogi police station. Following the registration of the case, Manikantha was arrested and sent to jail.
