MADDUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JDS’ ‘Mysuru Chalo’ padayatra entered the fourth day on Tuesday. The padayatra is being taken out against the alleged illegal activities of the Congress-ruled government since the party came to power in the state.
JDS state youth wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy said that the JDS and BJP have started this padayatra over the the alleged MUDA scam and the corruption that has taken place in the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation.
He said, “We have all started this padayatra regarding the alleged MUDA scam and the corruption that has taken place in Valmiki Corporation. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself has accepted on the floor of the Assembly that Rs 89 crore has been wrongly utilised.”
Further, he added that today marks the fourth day of the padayatra, which will come to an end on Saturday. “Today, we are entering the fourth day of the padayatra, and we will be ending it on Saturday in Neeraghata. On Saturday, we will hold a big rally and convention in Mysuru. Congress is trying to divert this issue because the state is aware of the MUDA scam and Valmiki Corporation corruption that have taken place and they cannot get out of them. However, that is wrong, everyone in Karnataka is very smart”, he added.
On August 4, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the 10-day ‘Mysuru Chalo’ padayatra has been started against the alleged illegal activities of the Congress-ruled government since coming to power in the state. “We are going to finish this programme in Mysuru. It is against several illegal activities done by this (Congress) government: corruption, land grabbing”, the JD(S) leader told reporters hours after the event was started.
He said that during the padayatra they will educate the people of Karnataka on how this government came to power. “From day one, they started to grab money from the exchequer and even from officials”, Kumaraswamy had said. (ANI)
