BENGALURU: The BJP, which is faced the factionalism between the Ramesh Jarkiholi and Laxman Savadi camps, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is arriving in the state on January 27 and 28 is expected to find a way out of the situation.

The party realises that the factionalism can lead to electoral losses in the district. Amit Shah is expected to hold an important meeting with state leaders and provide important insights on fighting the polls unitedly.

Last year, the BJP had suffered dual losses in the district during the Legislative Council polls with Arun Shahpur and Mahantesh Kavatagimath losing, owing to the rivalry between the two camps. The state leaders had brought this to the attention of the central leaders. With Amit Shah expected to devise a strategy, the party hopes to improve its performance in the district.

Belagavi has always witnessed factionalism in the BJP right from the times of late Umesh Katti with the Jarkiholi brothers in one camp and Laxman Savadi, Katti and Minister Shashikala Jolle on the other side.

Amit Shah, who will arrive in Hubballi on January 27 night, will stay overnight there and proceed to Kundgol the next morning where he will address a Vijay Sankalp Yatra. He will later take part in some programmes at the KLE Institution and lay the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University off-site facility on the UAS, Dharwad campus.

He will also hold a series of meetings and address a rally at M K Hubballi in Kittur Assembly constituency. The rally venue is close to Belagavi Rural, Bailhongal and Khanapur, represented by Laxmi Hebbalkar, Mahantesh Koujalgi and Anjali Nimbalkar, respectively of the Congress.
