BENGALURU: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already started its ground work for the upcoming Assembly Constituency election. The BJP high command has drawn up plans for the Karnataka election and has sent a team of 23 leaders, who will monitor the activities of all state leaders. According to sources, a survey is already under way in 224 Assembly constituencies.

Surprisingly, none of the state MLAs seem to be aware of those 23 party leaders who have arrived here. They will do a comprehensive survey of each leader, assess their performance, social contacts and relationships with other people’s representatives.

The team is not just working on information gathering, but on past and current affairs, recent developments and failures of the Opposition parties, how many Congress leaders are willing to join BJP and if it will benefit the party.

Recently, BJP national general secretary C T Ravi had stirred up a storm in political circles when he said at a press conference, “We have Chandragupta and Chanakya in our team. So we do not have any fear.”  But he did not reveal any names.

A central team has quietly arrived and started the survey work in the state from the first week of October. “When it comes to Karnataka, the Congress is still a strong Opposition party. The BJP is aware of its strength. The Congress may not have expected number of representatives in the Assembly, but it has a strong presence at the booth level. Every single vote can make a big difference in the election. The 23 leaders have already entered 224 fields to conduct survey”, sources said.

Each of the 23 individuals will be in charge of 10 constituencies. It is said that a similar strategy was adopted in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and other state polls.
