TUMAKURU: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the government is focused on development and implementing guarantee schemes, urging people not to be misled by opposition propaganda.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for several development projects in Tumakuru district, Shivakumar said, “Some are unnecessarily spreading the propaganda that development is suffering due to guarantee schemes. About Rs 250 crore is reaching each assembly constituency through guarantees. Isn’t it development? Isn’t it empowerment of women?”

The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister further highlighted that the government had inaugurated the Yettinahole project and assured that any obstacles would be addressed to ensure water flows to the Tumakuru district.

“Our government has already inaugurated the Yettinahole project. There are some obstacles in some locations, we will fix them and ensure that water flows to Tumakuru district at the earliest,” he said.

Shivakumar criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly copying their schemes and implementing them in its states.

“The government is spending Rs 56,000 crore for guarantee schemes per year. Our schemes have become a model for the country. We are happy that the BJP is copying our schemes and implementing in its states,” he said.

The Deputy CM noted that the Congress party has been launching welfare schemes since the time of Indira Gandhi.

“Our government is working towards providing employment to every family. Our party has been launching welfare schemes for the people since Indira Gandhi’s age,” he added.

The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister also praised Home Minister Parameshwara’s efforts for the further development of Tumakuru district.

“Home Minister Parameshwara has expressed the opinion that Tumakuru can be an alternative city to Bengaluru. I have a spiritual connection to this district. This district is rich educationally and culturally. Parameshwara is working hard to take the district ahead with the help of other MLAs,” Karnataka Deputy CM said.

“Shivakumara Swamy has once said that kayaka was more important than kailasa. Our government is working in the same direction. The Congress party has done a lot of work in this direction, the officials of the district are doing a good job, the Executive needs to work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the government,” he added.

He also thanked the people for reposing their faith in the Congress government by giving them a huge mandate in the assembly polls.

“The people of the state have strengthened our hand by giving us 136 seats and the district has given us seven legislators. We have organised a ‘Swamimani Samaavesha’ on December 5,” he said. (ANI)
