BENGALURU: The city police have registered three FIRs after workers of the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed at a ground in Govindrajnagar constituency in Bengaluru on Friday. The fight broke out after BJP workers expressed opposition to Congress workers putting up banners and posters of their party leaders for a women’s convention slated to be held on March 19.

The intial argument soon escalated into a fight with workers from both groups attacking each other with stones and sticks, resulting in injuries to many. The police, who arrived on the spot, soon resorted to lathicharge to bring the mob under control.

The police have registered three FIRs in connection with the incident.

“Both groups pelted stones and our personnel sustained injuries. Three FIRs have been registered in connection with the incident”, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakshman B Nimbargi. Further investigation is under way, the DCP said. (ANI)
