BENGALURU: The BJP Central Election Committee on Sunday announced the names of three candidates for Legislative Council from the Assembly constituency.

The last day for submission of nomination papers is June 3 and polling will be held the same day. Counting of votes will be taken up on June 6.

Former national general secretary C T Ravi from the High Command quota, Chief Whip of Council N Ravikumar from the State BJP quota, and former MLA Maruti Rao Govinda Rao Mule from the RSS quota, have been given tickets.

Though there was speculation that Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, who joined the BJP during Lok Sabha elections, would being given the ticket in the Legislative Council polls, she missed the ticket at the last moment. Along with her, former minister J C Madhuswamy, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and former MLA N Mahesh have been kept out of the Council poll fray.
