Bike thieves on the prowl in Anekal

Two thieves are trying to break handle locks of parked two wheelers in parking slot.

BENGALURU: Two-wheeler thieves seem to have set their eyes on expensive two-wheelers lately. They get down to work post midnight, break the handle locks of the two-wheelers and escape with the vehicle in a jiffy.

The three thieves came on a bike to steal parked vehicles in Bommasandra area.

A group of bike thieves have been active in Vidyanagar of Bommasandra are from the last one week in Anekal taluk, located on outskirts of the city.

On April 5, the thieves stole a Suzuki Access 125 scooter belonging to one Aravind, who had purchased it just few months ago. In another incident, thieves attempted to tow away two parked vehicles on April 8, but left behind a Yamaha FZ bike mid-way as it did not start. A complaint was registered at the Hebbagodi police station and a manhunt for the two-wheeler thieves has been launched.

Sudhir, a vehicle owner, insisted that night patrolling by the police should be intensified.

Sudhir, the bike owner, said, “The owner parked the scooter at 12.40 am and three thieves entered the area around 2.15 am. After a two-hour attempt, they opened handle lock of the Suziki Access 125. In video, one of the thieves can be seen sitting on the scooter and kicking the handle bar to break the lock. Upon checking CCTV footage, we found that they used to come every week to steal bikes. Police patrolling should be intensified at night”, he requested.

Rudresh, a local resident said, “The thieves attempted to escape with two bikes. The three thieves came on the same bike and two of them entered the gate while one was standing guard outside the compound. One of them opened the handle lock by kicking the handle and the other helped him move it out. They took away new Royal Enfield bike and a Yamaha FZ bike and started it only outside the compound. However, they left behind one of the bikes near Lark Hotel as it did not start. Two-wheeler thefts are occurring evey week”.
