BENGALURU: A woman in Bengaluru has taken to social media in a desperate attempt to find her husband, who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.

Vipin Gupta, a 37-year-old techie who worked at a company in Manyata Tech Park, has been missing since August 4. His wife, Sreeparna Dutta, lodged a missing person’s complaint with Kodigehalli Police Station following his disappearance.

She alleged that the police have not shown urgency in handling the case.

According to the woman, Gupta, originally from Lucknow, was last seen riding his bike, which was later found abandoned in the parking lot of a private hospital. He was wearing a T-shirt at the time of his disappearance. She reported that Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from her husband’s bank account just 24 minutes after he went missing, and his phone has been switched off since 2.00 pm that day.

Taking to social media platforms like Facebook and X, Sreeparna has expressed her anguish over the lack of progress in the investigation and has appealed to the public for help in finding her husband.

“Vipin was not suffering from depression nor did he have any addictions. We are devastated and need help,” she said during a Facebook Live broadcast, urging the public to provide any information that could help in finding her husband.

“Today is 9th day of disappearance and I am receiving phone calls asking money for release of my husband but SHO MA Mahesh telling those are hoax calls. Please help, I am one of the resident of this city and I have 2 small daughters. Your support is requested for an efficient, strong search as police is not putting efforts. I do not have any money as during the disappearance 1.8 lakh was withdrawn. Please help at the earliest,” the woman wrote in a post on X earlier.

Dutta alleged that the police initially refused to file an FIR after she reported her husband missing. It was only after repeated requests that an FIR was filed on August 6, two days after Gupta went missing. She also contacted senior police officials to press for a thorough investigation.
