Bengaluru University gets Rs 100 crore grant under the PM-USHA scheme

BENGALURU: Bangalore University vice-chancellor Jayakara S M has said that the institution has received a significant boost with the announcement of a Rs 100 crore grant under the PM-USHA Scheme.

Among 1,472 universities in the country, only 26 have attained the status of PM-USHA (MERU) Multidisciplinary Education and Research University, with Bangalore University among them. This allocation underscores the university’s position among the elite institutions recognized for their multidisciplinary education and research standards, the VC said.

The grant will catalyse furthering the university’s endeavours in research, exploration and overall academic development. “It signifies a testament to the unwavering dedication of the university’s leadership, faculty, and staff towards fostering an environment conducive to quality education and cutting-edge research”, he said.

The allocation covers various facets such as equity, access, excellence, research initiatives, academic enhancements, skill-based training programs, employment opportunities and fostering entrepreneurial collaborations. This announcement of the grant not only elevates Bangalore University’s status but also highlights its commitment to academic excellence and global recognition.

Further, vice-chancellor Dr Jayakara underscored that the university’s adherence to quality education and research has yielded the noteworthy achievement. Dr Jayakar emphasized the university’s ongoing dedication to advancing research and exploration, emphasizing that the grant will significantly contribute to student academic growth, research endeavours, and overall development. He extended gratitude for the collaborative support and encouragement received from both the central and state governments.
