Bengaluru traffic police register cases against 525 autorickshaws for flouting rules

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru West Division traffic police launched a special drive against autorickshaws that violate traffic rules. As part of this drive, 525 cases were registered and a total of Rs 2 lakh was collected as fines.

The traffic police have registered 163 cases against autorickshaw drivers for driving without wearing uniform and have collected fines of Rs 82,000.

They registered 46 cases for overcharging and collected a fine of Rs 23,000 while there were 40 cases booked for refusal to go on hire and fine of Rs 21,000 was collected. There were 14 cases registered under one-way traffic violations and fines of Rs 5,000 were collected.

A total of 65  cases were registered for paking auto in No Parking area and Rs 17,000 was collected as fine. There are 198 cases booked against autorickshaw drivers for various other violations, and the traffic police collected fines of Rs 49,000.
