BENGALURU: Bengaluru Rural SP C K Baba has sought a report and ordered an investigation into the delay in registering an FIR in connection with the recent molestation case of a woman in Bannerghatta.

The woman had approached the police station to file a complaint, but despite CCTV footage being available, the police allegedly neglected to register the FIR, doing so only after public and media pressure.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many criticising the police’s handling of the case. Citizens have questioned the police’s initial reluctance to register an FIR and their subsequent actions. Later on, they arrested five accused due to public pressure.

The SP has sought a report on the delay and the circumstances surrounding it, the officers present in the police station at that time, etc., and action will be taken based on the findings. The SP has asked the Deputy SP to submit a report regarding the alleged negligence in filing an FIR.

Meanwhile, there has been increased public criticism about filing of an FIR against a gym trainer who helped the victim.
