BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested psychiatrist Nagaraju for his alleged links to terror groups. Nagaraju was not only linked to T Nasir, but was also a favourite doctor among all the accused in the Parappana Agrahara prison. He was liked, not for his work as a doctor, but for his smartness and taking risks.
Nagaraj’s family, including his mother, wife, and children, reside in Chintamani and he would visit them occasionally. Nagaraj’s wife is a government official. Nagaraj is the son of Srinivas and Salamma and his family originally hails from Mandya district.
Nagaraju was involved in providing mobile phone to inmates of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail along with Pavithra, who would buy mobile phones from nearby shops. She had bought around 234 mobile phones and Nagaraju is suspected of smuggling them into the prison.
There is also a suspicion that Nagaraju would sell these mobile phones at exorbitant prices, selling a Rs 10,000 mobile phone for Rs 40,000. Nagaraju’s role is not limited to helping Nasir; he also assisted other accused in the prison.
