Bengaluru police make security arrangements to peaceful counting of votes on Saturday

BENGALURU: With hours left for counting of votes, the Bengaluru police have taken several security measures to maintain peace and avoid untoward incidents.

As part of the arrangements, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy,  about 1,500 police personnel have been deployed and additional security has been provided at the four counting centres — St Joseph’s College on Vittal Malya Road, Mount Carmel College in Vasant Nagar, BMS College in Basavanagudi, and SSMRV College in Tilak Nagar.

A total of 506 police personnel, including two DCPs, four ACPs, 20 inspectors, and 72 PSIs have been deployed at St Joseph’s College, Vittal Malya Road. A total of 275 personnel, including two DCPs, four ACPs, 18 inspectors and 40 PSIs have been deployed at Mount Carmel College.

At BMS College, Basavanagudi, 399 police personnel including two DCPs, five ACPs, 10 Inspectors and 14 PSIs have deployed while 214 police personnel including two DCPs, three ACPs, six inspectors and 15 PSIs have been deployed at SSMRV College, Tilak Nagar.

All police officers and staff have been instructed to be present at the counting centres at 5 am on Saturday. In addition to the local police, platoons of the KSRP, CAR and water cannons and other essential vehicles have been arranged at the counting centre.
