BENGALURU: After several robbery cases, the Bengaluru city police have come up with a new 10-point guideline to enhance ATM security due to rising thefts.
Bengaluru Commissioner B Dayananda is all set to announce the new guidelines. A meeting has already been held with senior officers to discuss the issue and the police inspectors of the respective stations will be made responsible for monitoring of ATMs.
The guidelines include:
- Mandatory installation of CCTV cameras at every ATM.
- Deploying security personnel 24/7.
- Lights should be on, outside and inside ATMs at night.
- Night patrol police to inspect every ATM daily.
- Obtain signatures from security personnel after inspection.
- Hold meetings with bank officials.
- Create awareness among the public visiting banks.
- Advise bank officials to exercise caution while depositing cash.
- Ensure security personnel monitor individuals wearing helmets or masks inside ATMs.
- Call 112 immediately in case of suspicious activity or theft attempts.
Police Commissioner Dayananda has already discussed these guidelines with senior officials and is set to implement them soon.
